Commitment to Learning and Education
Before making her home in Spencer County, Lynn distinguished herself academically through a deep commitment to learning and personal achievement. She attended Transylvania University, where she built a strong foundation in critical thinking, leadership, and service. Lynn went on to earn her Doctorate in Dental Medicine from the University of Louisville, completing the rigorous training required to serve patients with skill, professionalism, and compassion.
Lynn’s educational journey reflects her belief in the power of education to open doors and strengthen communities. Her success in higher education, paired with real‑world professional experience, has shaped her understanding of the importance of accessible, high‑quality education at every level—from early learning to higher education and skilled trades training.
This commitment continued through her public service, including her work on the Spencer County School Board and the Spencer County Library Board. In these roles, she advocated for strong schools, expanded learning opportunities, and pathways that prepare students for both college and in‑demand careers.
Lynn Shelburne believes that investing in education is investing in Kentucky’s future, and she remains dedicated to ensuring every student has the opportunity to succeed.

Commitment to Healthcare
As a longtime healthcare provider and dentist, Dr. Shelburne’s commitment to the well‑being of families in Senate District 14 is personal as well as professional. Throughout her years in practice, she witnessed how access to quality care can change lives—and how the gaps in our healthcare system can limit a persons potential. Those experiences have shaped her priorities and fuels her determination to advocate for policies that support the health of every community in our district.
Senate District 14 includes diverse neighborhoods, each facing its own healthcare challenges. Whether it’s the rising cost of care, a shortage of providers, or limited access to essential services, too many families encounter barriers that prevent them from getting the timely, effective care they deserve. Her work as a dentist has given her firsthand insight into:
How delayed or inaccessible care affects long‑term health
The life‑changing value of preventive services and early intervention
The importance of strong provider networks in both urban and rural areas
These experiences guide Dr. Shelburne's approach to policy and advocacy, especially in areas such as expanding access to care, supporting healthcare providers, improving health outcomes, and addressing persistent disparities.
Dr. Shelburne’s time in healthcare has taught her that this work is not just about policy—it is about people. Every patient she has treated represents a story, a family, and a future worth investing in. That belief drives her commitment to building a healthier, stronger Senate District 14.

Commitment to Agriculture
Throughout her adult life, Lynn has remained deeply engaged in agriculture across multiple sectors. She has been a dedicated poultry farmer, raising a variety of breeds and earning national‑level recognition in competitive shows. Her experience in animal husbandry also includes breeding and training AKC‑registered dogs with Best in Show and specialty wins at national and international competitions.
Today, Lynn farms 100 acres in Mount Eden, Kentucky, giving her firsthand insight into the daily realities of running an agricultural operation. From managing livestock and crops to navigating rising input costs, labor shortages, and infrastructure needs, she understands the challenges shared by farms of every size. She also recognizes the unique demands of large‑scale operations — from equipment investments to market volatility — and believes strong agricultural policy must support both small family farms and major producers who drive Kentucky’s farm economy.
Lynn has been an active supporter of the Spencer County Farmers Market, selling bee products from her apiary and connecting directly with local consumers. She is also growing a cut‑flower business with her daughter, Leah Shelburne — blending tradition, innovation, and family partnership to meet growing market demand. Her work across multiple agricultural sectors gives her a broad understanding of the diverse operations that power Kentucky’s farming industry.
Lynn is committed to advocating for policies that strengthen agriculture at every level and ensure Kentucky’s farming communities continue to grow and thrive.
